Orange Beach Alabama

Orange Beach Alabama was nice.  For Alabama.  The food was a bit pricy for what we got but for the most part I enjoyed it.  One place we hit was the Gulf Island Grill in Gulf Shores.  I had a Shrimp Po Boy.  It was okay but didn't have remoulade sauce on it.  Who makes a shrimp Po Boy with no sauce?  Our server was fantastic!

Another place we ate was The Gulf.  It offered a spectacular view but the food was okay.  We got overcharged but the staff was very gracious and corrected the mistake.  The restaurant does not have wait service.  You pick your food up at a window and then find a seat.  I had crab legs and shrimp tacos.  They serve their crab legs cold.  This is acceptable but I prefer mine served hot.

Someplace Else Restaurant!

When I was in Elkhorn WI for work last month, I was not feeling well and in search of some comfort food.  I went to the Someplace Else Restaurant located in downtown Elkhorn.  I had the best chicken pot pie I have ever put in my mouth.  To start with, it was HUGE!  It had a crusty top and hot chicken inside.  It was also the special of the day.  It was a pricy lunch but it was so good!

Here is a pic!

If you ever get the chance to go to Elkhorn, give this place a try.  It's worth it!  The fried cheese curds are also delicious!

Upcoming adventures!

This week my family will be headed to Orange Beach Alabama.  I have never been there but I am looking forward to the time off.  I need to feel some sand in my toes, smell some salt in the air, and listen to some classic Jimmy Buffett like "Miss You So Badly"!

Great website about being a man

Art of Manliness is one of those website jewels out there.  It talks about the importance of being a man in these days of males being mamby-pambys sissy cry babies whose feelings get hurt over the slightest grievance.  As a member of Generation X, our parents were either Depression, "Cusp" (in between generations), or Baby Boomers who told us to suck it up.  My Dad was born in 1944 and my Mother in December 1945 so they are between the two generations.

These website reminds of us about what it takes to do the right thing and live up to being the ideal man.  I recommend everybody check it out!

You can also check out an eBook I published a few years ago on Amazon about what I am teaching my son.  It was inspired by the website.

A visit to the Harley Davidson Museum

Back in February, I had the opportunity to visit the Harley Davidson Museum.  It's a neat place with some beautiful bikes.  They had some neat movie bikes along with the story if how the employees bought the company back from AMF.  The tour is totally worth $20 and they have a great gift shop.
They have a restaurant onsite but due to time restrictions I didn't get to visit.
This is a picture of me in front of the Harley Museum.

Great article related to travelling!

This comes from Lifehacker.com.  It's a great article about what to do when you have a travel itch you can't scratch!
