Work

Some days you just don't want to come to work. It's not that I dislike my job but more I don't like working for other people. I should become an entrepreneur but I have the attention span of a European Swallow.

My Dad is an entrepreneur. He owns his own business and the success or failure is on his shoulders. He is of the generation that didn't like being told what to do when it comes to work. I have always been impressed by that. I, on the other hand, like a steady paycheck and paid vacation. If my Dad didn't work, he didn't eat. Actually, that is not entirely true. He was and still is very good at what he does.

I have yet to come up with my dream job. I know I am not working it. At least I have figured that out.

I would love to get paid to write but newspapers are on the way out and writing on the internet is common place and doesn't pay anything so I guess I will keep on writing as a hobby or at least until I finish my first book.

My biggest problem comes back to completing the task at hand. Not so much for work but for writing. I get bored with the subject sometimes or it runs out of steam.

My good boy

My son Alex has a classmate whose father died unexpectedly from a heart attack this past Sunday. He was 60 years old. Alex wanted to go to the funeral home when he heard about the death from my wife. He wanted to get his friend something that would help take away some of the sadness. He has such a tender heart. I am proud of him for his empathy for his friend.

BCS

I read Auburn is now number one in the BCS ratings.  Really?  I think I am going to puke.

Saturday!

Today was a great Saturday.  We tried to make it to Elijay to pick apples but the traffic was just way too bad so we turned around and headed back home.  It was a fun road trip though.

We had a lot of laughs.

There is something funny about when Dad takes his shirt off while driving the car.

16

My wife and I got married 16 years ago today.  We've known each other for 21.  My biggest question is where does the time go?

A lot has changed in those years.  We've added to our family with three wonderful children and suffered losses too including my wonderful mother in law.  She was a sweet lady that I miss everyday because she was so good to me.

Without my wife, my life would be pretty dull.  She is a great partner and friend.  We got each other's back and, in the end, I think that is really all you can ask for.

Happy Anniversary Maria!

King Roy or Raw Deal

Elections are coming up nationwide.  In Georgia, we have a governor race coming up with Roy Barnes as the Democrat candidate and Nathan Deal as the Republican.  They both pretty much suck.

Roy was a previous governor who served one term that made teachers mad because of no raises and changing the state flag in a midnight vote.  I agreed with the changing of the flag but always thought the people should have been able to vote on it.

Nathan Deal, on the other hand, resigned from Congress just as an ethics investigation was about to start.  What's that all about?

In other words, I have no idea which one to vote for.

Relaunching this blog

It's been too long since I last posted.  I am going to be relaunching this blog and "get after it" as Coach Kenny Palmer used to say.

Since I last posted, I have launch a t-shirt line which you can see here: www.cafepress.com/jaytees1.  Go and buy some shirts!  I will be adding to the line as I develop more ideas and come up with crazy designs.  Also keep an eye out for my book I am writing about growing up in the '70's.  I will be putting a sample out later.

Thanks for stopping by!
